Narrow Gauge at Work No. 1 - Kaolin by Rail (53 mins)

Narrow Gauge at Work No. 1 - Kaolin by Rail (53 mins)

Ref: JS1001D

The railway centred at Mugeln, transporting kaolin from Kemmlitz to Oschatz, had survived through the downfall of the iron curtain, and fulfilled a similar function to a Lokalbahn. Kaolin and coal freight services formed the backbone of the railway's economy, but since the mid 1990s school passenger services and (outside the remit of this video) preserved steam services also run. A small, but interesting collection of locomotives was used to operate the line. Sachsen Meyer 0-4-4-0 steam locos, the more recently acquired class 2091 Austrian diesel, the Polish 0-6-0 Lyd2, and an East German built V10C. Both steam and diesel locos are seen working freight and mixed freight services on the railway. A brief history of the line is portrayed with route maps and track plans

of the major stations are also included. The footage was taken in 1997, and 1998, with additional non-digital sequences from 1992.

Narrow Gauge at Work No. 2 - Industrial Romania (55 mins)

Ref: JS1002D

A video about narrow gauge railways in Romania it may be, but it does not feature the usual forestry railways. This is a video about other industries in Romania that used narrow gauge railways in 1998, and in some instances still do in 2005. In some of the locations, it may have been the first time that the railways had been filmed, or even visited by western enthusiasts.

The video was filmed mainly in 1998, and the footage is supplimented by some older non digital clips from 1993. There are a total of 7 lines seen at work. Mostly 760mm gauge, but other gauges such as 700mm, and 790mm are also represented. The L45H class hydraulic BoBo diesel has become the mainstay of the motive power in the country, but we do see a couple of locations that still use Resita steam locos, and one or two other types of loco. In addition to the operating railways seen, there are numerous other items of railway interest throughout the video.

This is the first of 5 Narrow Gauge at work videos dedicated to the 'feldbahn' railways of Germany. Each video covers an area; North, West, Central, South, and East, and the series covers a total of 40 to 50 industrial narrow gauge railways still operating since 1997, and in many cases still running into the year 2000.

This video focusing on the central region of Germany, mostly covers railways bounded by the triangle of Osnabruck, Bremen, and Hannover, as there is very little narrow gauge activity south of this region now. The footage was taken in 1997, and 1999. There is also a small amount of non digital footage from 1995, and 1996 included.

In this video most of the locomotives seen are from the firms of Diema and Schöma, and cover mostly peat lines, with a couple of exceptions. Working footage of the following is seen; Torfwek Drebber, Torfwerk Wübbeler, Torfwerk Haspkamp Lohne, Torf und Humus werk Uchte, Torfwerk Zubrägel, Torfwerk Gramann, Freistatt Torfwerk, Erdenwerk Wietinghausen, Dachziegelwerk Meyer-Holsen, plus several other locations.

This is the second in the series of 'Feldbahnen' videos, covering 5 areas of Germany; North, West, Central, South, and East, and the series covers a total of 40 to 50 industrial narrow gauge railways still operating since 1997, and in many cases still running into the year 2000.

11 sites in the far south of the country are featured in this production. Torfwerk Haidgau, and Torfwerk Kneer have been closed for several years, but the video shows that there is still much evidence of the previous railways in both locations.

A visit to Torfwerk Eulenau in May 2000, shows the Diema and the elderly O&K loco on tracklifting duties, and the site closed a couple of weeks later. Dachziegelwerk Möding was due for closure in 2001, and the Schöma and Gmeinder locos are seen at work on footage from 1997. Torfwerk Fielnbach is worked spasmodically, and a Schöma loco is filmed coming back with a loaded train. Along the river Inn there are numerous hydroelectric schemes with small raiways of various gauges. Permission was obtained to film in Wasserburg and Nussdorf, and the Diema at Nussdorf is seen working. Torfwerk Ainring is filmed working with its small fleet of mines type Deutz locos. The overhead electric line at Keifersfelden serving the concrete works uses the ex brown coal locos, one of which is in use in the video. The small torfwerk at Wielhiem is seen but the railway here is barely used any more. The extensive railway of Torfwerk Raubling uses mainly Diema locos which closes the video.

This is the third in the series of 'Feldbahnen' videos, covering 5 areas of Germany; North, West, Central, South, and East. The series covers a total of 40 to 50 industrial narrow gauge railways still operating since 1997, and in many cases still running into the year 2005.

To start the video, the Schöma, Diema and Gemeinder locos of Berumerfehn are seen at work. Brief scenes are seen at the abandonned peatworks at Heinschenwalde, Wiesmoor and Mullberg. Moving to the peatworks at Brockzetel, this works was operational when visited but no rail traffic was filmed, and the works closed down a short time after the visit. Operating footage of the picturesque railway at Klenkendorf is featured with two of the Diema locos dating back to the 1930s. Brief visits are paid to two railways previously linked together at Hagen, a peatworks and a brickworks. At Westerholt another brickworks uses a 600mm gauge line connecting a small network of clay pits and the video follows trips to a couple of the pits. Two coastal railways are seen with non operatinal footage at Dagebüll and short footage at Cecilienkoog. The now closed peat railway at Stapelermoor is seen working, using double flanged rolling stock. it had several very old Schöma and Gmeinder locos. Friedrich Meiners have another site at Gnarrenburg. This is the largest railway featured, and operations are seen on the tipping station out on the edge of the moors with an O&K loco in use as well as several Diemas.

By the start of 2001, there were just 4 peat railways used for the transport of peat in England. A further railway ceased operation in the 1999-2000 season at Solway Moss, and the railway at Joseph Metcalf LTD, had been the previous casualty in 1998.

All six of these sites are seen operating in this DVD. All the railways were filmed in digital video with the exception of Solway Moss, which was filmed in Hi8. The video forms a full record of all the narrow gauge railways used in the peat industry in England since 1997.

The video covers a variety of narrow gauge lines operated by Bord na Mona, to give a representative cross section of the railways still operating.

There has been a video of the Bord na Mona railways available commercially; 'The Peat Railways of Ireland', and is produced by Midland Publishing. This new production 'Railways of Bord na Mona' mostly focuses on different systems than previously documented on the Midland Publishing video.

Power Stations and Briquette Factories, sod peat and milled peat production, operating and disused lines, are all represented. Locos by Hunslet, Ruston, Bord na Mona, Gleismac, and Deutz are all seen in operation. Maps put the location of these railways into context, with track formations at most of the locations seen.

Horticultural peat production is seen at Kilberry and Ballivor, and Sod peat production for heating at Templetouhy. There are three huge networks still operating, the combined network of Blackwater and Boora, Moundillon, and Derrygreenagh. The system at Derrygreenagh is focussed on, with visits to the Briquette Factory, Rhode Power Station and the new power station, loco workshops, etc. Brief views of Kinngad are seen, and operations around the power station at Lanesborough. Also the extensive system around the Littleton Briquette Factory is seen.

Poland had a rich diversity of narrow gauge railways, whether the lines were PKP state operated, or smaller industrial railways connected with the building industry or peat industry. The PKP railways fell into rapid decline as funding for many of the lines was withdrawn.

This video visits a cross section of narrow gauge railways which were still operating at the time of production, providing both freight services, and passenger services.

At Rogow, the daily passenger services barely survive, being run with a single coach plus baggage van, with no passengers the day it was filmed. At Smigiel, both freight and passenger trains are seen, with the Romanian railcars and the Lxd2 BoBo diesels. Although services finished at Opalenica few years ago, all the railway is still in place, and some non digital footage of the railway is seen when it was working. The 750mm gauge railway centred on Zbiersk survived by virtue of the sugar factory which does not have a standard gauge connection. Although at this stage beet was not brought in by rail anymore the railway was still used to supply coal, and return the unrefined sugar, using the Lxd2 diesels. A brief visit is made to Sroda using non -digital footage from a couple of years ago, before moving on to Pleszew with the shotest PKP line which operated over dual gauge track, using a Lyd1 0-6-0 diesel loco and Rumanian railcars. Finally some services are seem on the Naleczow line in the south east with an Lxd2 on an excursion, and on a coal train, with a brief visit to the sugar factory with the Lyd2 loco.

Within a short drive from the French coast there were several small narrow gauge railways mainly associated with the building industry. This video captures 7 of these railways, with several still hard at work when this DVD was produced.

There is a wide variety of locomotive builders represented, with Gmeinder, rebuilt Rustons, Plymouth, Moes, Alsthom, Whitcomb and Jung motive power seen working.

Additional footage has also been added of the French brickworks that operates railways of 2 gauges, Briqueterie Chimot. This location still operates today.

A Video looking at variety of Hungarian narrow gauge railways, a state operated MAV line, some AEV forestry lines, and some industrial narrow gauge lines.

The state railways (MAV) own several narrow gauge railways and the line at Kecskemét is one of these. One of the infrequent trains hauled by the MK48 locos is followed to Kiskorös. An unusual railway is seen at the Tömörkény fish farm using standard C50 locos. Csömödér is the base for the most active of the current forestry railways with both passenger and timber traffic present. Both types of operation using the C50 locos are recorded. The cameras move to nearby Lenti before visiting the new connection that now joins these systems together to form the largest narrow gauge network in the country. At Sentes a small rustic brickworks still relies on an internal narrow gauge railway for moving bricks about with small 4w locomotives. Lastly the forestry system at Kismaros is visited, and a trip is taken up to Királyrét with one of the MK48 locos.

A Video looking at variety of Hungarian narrow gauge railways, a state operated former agriculture line, some ex-forestry lines, and some industrial narrow gauge railways.

At Balatonfenyves the former Agricultural Railway was still operating over 3 branches when this DVD was filmed in 2002. An industrial railway transporting kaolin at Felsöpetény is seen in operation including both a C50 and a battery loco in operation. A brief visit is made to the forestry railways at Gemenc and at Mesztegnyö where passenger trains now for the bulk of the traffic. A large brickworks at Törökszentmiklós has a network of 500mm gauge lines, and small loco is seen moving bricks from the drying sheds to the kilns. The Budapest Children's Railway at the Hüvösvölgy terminus is visited, and also the short railway at Gyönygös, operated by the MK48 locos. Finally a further look at the timber traffic on the Csömödér Forestry Railway reprises the main feature on the first Hungary DVD. Other locations are seen during the course of the DVD.

All footage was taken in May 2002

Narrow gauge railways were used extensively in the mining and quarrying industry in this country. This video explores some of those locations in England that were using narrow gauge railways until the end of the 1990s, and in some cases are still in use.

The last regularly worked coal mine in the Forest of Dean opens the video. Hayners Bailey mine uses cable haulage to pull loaded tubs to the surface. A Simplex loco is used to haul large stone blocks underground for cutting at Rare Stone in Chilmark. The mines of Clarghyll Drift and Ayle Colliery are within a half-mile of each other, one using main and tail cable haulage, the other using Clayton Battery locos. Until the mid 1990s three mines produced fluorspar at Frazers Grove Complex and the drifts are seen in operation. Honister Slate Mine uses a single battery loco high in the mountains of the Lake District. The Battery loco of the Florence Iron Ore Mine is seen working underground. Finally the stockyard of the Berwick Drift Coal Mine owned by RJB Mining uses a couple of battery locos to move materials underground. Several other locations are also seen during the course of the video.

Even in 2003 the Polish sugar beet industry still used narrow gauge railways to transport beet, supplies for the sugar factories, and also the by-products of sugar beet processing. This DVD takes a close look at some of the railways associated with several of these sugar factories mostly of 750mm gauge.

There is comprhensive footage of the factories and rail systems at Kruszwica, Dobre, and Brzesc, filmed in October 2000. From the mid 1990s, there is brief non-digital footage of Tuczno and Znin factories, plus other locations are seen in passing. All three main classes of industrial Polish diesels are seen in action, the Lxd2 (BoBo), LYd2 (0-6-0DH), and the WLS150(Lyd1) (0-4-0DM).

The Murtalbahn must be one of the more scenic but less visited of the Austrian narrow gauge systems. Maybe the only line that still typifies the 'common carrier' lines of yesteryear, still transporting freight in narrow gauge wagons.

The large BoBo diesels purchased in the 1960s take on daily freight duties comprising mostly of timber but the video captures the Krauss U11 steam loco also on freight services after a diesel failure.

Passenger services are captured using the railcars and also with the twice weekly tourist trains using steam power. The 11km preserved section of the Murtalbahn, the Taurachbahn is also captured to complete the picture of this 76km line. The video was taken in 2003.

For the first time various narrow gauge railways are recorded across the country. As the title suggests the historical standard for Russian narrow gauge was 750mm, and most of the systems reflect this. The footage was taken in May 2005.

There are still up to 14 peat railways still active in the country, and this DVD visits several of the locations. The only surviving state narrow gauge system at Panevezys is slowly being reborn as a preserved/tourist line and most of this system is seen. Also, an unusual railway serving a prison is filmed near Kaunas using an ESU type loco. During the film various other locations are seen including several broad gauge industrial locations.

Narrow Gauge at Work:- This is one of a range of quality, digitally filmed productions. The series documents the disappearing world of Europe's working narrow gauge railways.

Welsh Industrial Archive

This production includes material that had featured on now discontinued videos, as well as newer footage not seen previously, using video taken from 1992 to 2005.

Operations at numerous small coal mines, including Pentwyn No.3, Nanthir No.2, Narit-y-Cafn, Parc Level, and others, have been captured using diesel, cable, horse, and hand haulage. Activities at the last two rail worked slate mills of Maenofferen, and Abertlefenni have been filmed using battery Iocos to haul slate.

Until recent years there were two 2' 6" gauge railways at Shotton Steelworks, and both systems are seen operating with Hunslet and Hudswell Badger locos.

At Solva, a small battery loco is seen, still providing transport through a tunnel to access a sewage works on a daily basis.

Finally several visits are made to some small gold mines in mid Wales where in two instances gold ore is transported using battery locos.

In many cases 2 or even 3 visits have been made to the sites to give an insight into how the railways changed over the years.

Surpisingly few of the narrow gauge railways in Austria are actually operated by the ÖBB. This production visits the line centred at Gmünd in its last few weeks before it was closed down. Although regular excursions still continue on this railway, there is now no timetabled traffic. Both passenger and freight traffic is captured on the line at Zell am See, and the two lines radiating from StPolten; to Mariazell, and to Gresten, are seen. It includes footage of the Gresten line before it was truncated to its current length a few years ago. On each line steam power is also captured, focusing on the 399 class locos, No.399.01, No.399.06(Mh6), and No.399.04.

Ref: JS1025D

This DVD features 4 600mm gauge railways all serving the same area of moorland called Westermoor in north west Germany. To reach the moors each railway runs for sometimes several kilometers along the roadside using a mixture of Diema and Schöma locos to transport the peat. Many changes have occurred to these railways in recent years, with one railway being taken up, and another cut back, but many of the scenes featured can still be seen today. Much of the footage was taken in 2003 and 2006, but several views are seen of these railways over 10 years ago.

As could be expected from a country as diverse as Austria, the lines featured on this DVD vary greatly, in terms of the gauge, the different types of loco featured, as well as the types of industry they once served. Remarkably even today a number of these lines shown still continue to operate.

Five different gauges are covered (from 500mm to 900mm) at the following sites; Trieben, Mixnitz, Schwaz, Vienna, Kaiserberg, Ried im Innkreis, and Bürmoos.

Since the late 1970s Alan Keef has been building, rebuilding, and hiring narrow gauge locomotives, rolling stock, and even complete railways. The emphasis has shifted from supplying industrial locomotives in the UK and many locations abroad, to serving preserved railways and the leisure industry in more recent years.

The DVD looks behind the scenes with recent footage of the workshops based near Ross on Wye, as well as looking at some of the older locomotives built for industry, and the railways they served on. In comparison there are details of a number of other more recent projects.

Narrow Gauge at Work No.31 - Mining in the Forest of Dean (62 mins)

Narrow Gauge at Work No.31 - Mining in the Forest of Dean (62 mins)

Ref: JS1031D

The unique laws and customs pertaining to the Forest of Dean have allowed the area to remain untouched by many outside influences. The operations of the freemines today has changed little in the last 100 years. There are no locos to be found in this DVD as all mines are hand or cable hauled, but there is a wealth of detail about current and past mining operations.

This DVD has taken many visits to the area to capture the different mines featured here. There are 4 mines shown working, with many others seen throughout the film. However it is not just a collection of current freemines, but also a look at the industrial archaeology to be found in the forest.

For those people who are unaware of the scale of industry that used to exist here, this is an excellent introduction to this facsinating area.

Narrow Gauge at Work No.32 - Farewell to the Kujawy (82 mins)

Narrow Gauge at Work No.32 - Farewell to the Kujawy (82 mins)

Ref: JS1032D

100 years of railway history in the Kujawy region of Poland had brought togther a myriad of different narrow gauge railways, standardised the gauge to 750mm, and created a huge network from Gniezno and Wrzesnia in the west to Ostrowy and Wlocwlawek in the east.

Even into the millenium, it still provided passenger services on a small part of the system, even after PKP ceased it's management of the narrow gauge. By 2011 large parts of the system have already completely disappeared and a small section from Gniezno now providing weekend tourist excursions is currently the only fully operational part of the system left.

The DVD shows scenes over many parts of the network, from 1992 until just a couple of years ago, with railcars, Lxd2, Lyd2, and Wls150 diesel locos, and the PX48 steam loco, all captured in action.

This is a tribute to a huge system once extending into every part of the local economy in the region. Sadly local politics has played a key part in its demise, but increasing local support for the railway may yet see some stetches brought back into operation in some form.

Narrow Gauge at Work No.33 - 20 Years in Search of Narrow Gauge (84 mins)

Ref: JS1033D

In 1991 we started to film real narrow gauge railways across Europe, as no other video producers appeared to be interested in preserving on video the minor industrial railways which were still relatively common at this time.

As time has marched on small industries producing and transporting low volumes of timber, bricks, peat, coal, etc, have all but disappeared, and with them the myriad of railways that used to serve them.

To commemorate 20 years of producing videos and DVDs capturing such railways, this DVD shows footage which has not been used on the current series of DVDs, and in some cases the footage seen may represent the only footage in existance as most of the railways featured have one by one succumbed to progress.

10 Countries are featured with 1 or 2 railways shown in each, of different gauges, different motive power, and a variety of different industries.

The DVD shows scenes over many parts of the network, from 1992 until just a couple of years ago, with railcars, Lxd2, Lyd2, and Wls150 diesel locos, and the PX48 steam loco, all captured in action.

Narrow Gauge at Work No.34 - The Changing Face of Vechta (68-mins)

Ref: JS1034D

The vast area of Grosses Moor to the east of Vechta in Germany is divided up into several distinct areas. Vechtaer Moor the western most section, has been the location of several peat companies using narrow gauge railways since the 1920s. From 1994 onwards many visits have been made to the railways at Vechtaer Moor and this DVD looks at the operations of these railways from 1994 to the present day, focusing on the changes that have been seen over the years.

All the railways featured are 600mm gauge, and unsurprisingly considering how close Vechta is to Diepholz, the motive power in use is by the works of Diema and Schöma.

The peat works of Gramman (Gramoflor), Zubrägel, Höne & von Lehmden, and Hellmann, one by one have all ceased railway use over the last few years, while the firm of Wichmann and Tabeling continues to operate it’s railway, even purchasing a new Schöma loco in 2010. Footage is seen at all these locations with the exclusion of Hellmann, which closed before the cameras were able to record operations there

Narrow Gauge at Work No.35 - Bolton Fell: The End of an Era (68-mins)

Narrow Gauge at Work No.35 - Bolton Fell: The End of an Era (68-mins)

Ref: JS1035D

Since the mid 1950s peat has been commercially harvested from Bolton Fell moors situated close to the England-Scotland border, 10 miles north east of Carlisle.

Latterly the moors were under the management of William Sinclair Horticulture who made intensive use of a 2ft gauge railway to transport the peat off the moors for processing. Up to 5 trains could be working simultaneously on a 2 shift system.

Since the end of the 1990s, the company had regular discussions with pressure groups who were concerned about the damage being done to the environment by the draining of the moors and peat harvesting. Finally in 2010, driven by new legislation from Europe, the date of November 2013 was specified for all peat production to be ceased, and all stockpiles of peat to be removed from the moors by June 2014, causing the loss of approx 80 jobs.

So ended approximately 50 years of peat production on the moors, and significantly it was the last traditional narrow gauge railway operating in England. The peat industry in England had continued to support the use of such railways since the last brickworks/claypit railway had ceased in 2001, but one by one they have all now closed.

The DVD follows operations on the moors over a number of years starting in 1993, right through to track lifting duties in June 2014.

14 steam locos are seen in operation on all 3 of the Austrian metre gauge rack railways, using current footage taken in 2015, as well as archive footage from the 1990s. Initially, on a ride up the Schafberg we experience the latest motive power on the Schafbergbahn. We then get taken back to the sight and sound of the original Krauss Linz locos in operation from footage taken in the 1990s.

The Achenseebahn still uses the steam locos that were provided for the line in the late 1880s. All the original locos including Nº.4, rebuilt in 2008 after being taken out of service in the 1930s, are seen in footage taken in 2015 as well as the 1990s.

The Schneebergbahn is the longest and highest line and has undergone the biggest transformation. Steam services are now mostly consigned to history with the introduction of the Salamander trains. However from footage in 1995, 5 of the original Krauss Linz 0-4-2T locos are seen being prepared for a day’s work and ascending up the Schneeberg mountain.

Although the traditional industrial narrow gauge railway is nearly extinct, there are isolated locations even in 2016 that still rely on this form of transport.

Using footage from the last couple of years and occasional archive footage, a few of the remaining industrial narrow gauge systems are visited in a number of locations through Europe. Meyer Holsen Tileworks in Germany still uses a small Diema loco to transport skips of clay. Mixnitz in Austria is home to a unique electric Lokalbahn still transporting magnesite. In Weardale, England, Rogerley Mine still uses a small battery loco on a part time basis. A classic French brickworks at Briqueterie Chimot still runs, using loco hauled trains on 2 narrow gauges. The peatworks at Hatzte operates one of the more picturesque peat railways in Germany. Back in England again, and recent footage shows coal being hauled to the surface at Hopewell Colliery. The DVD ends with the last feldbahn running in Austria, at Ziegelei Danreiter which runs a 600mm gauge railway for the transport of clay.

Other locations are seen during the course of the video.

Narrow Gauge at Work No.38 - Klasmann (79-mins)

Narrow Gauge at Work No.38 - Klasmann (79-mins)

Ref: JS1038D

Over the recent years Klasmann (and more recently Klasmann-Deilmann since the two firms merged) have operated many narrow gauge railways at various locations in north western Germany for the transport of peat. This DVD documents the remaining systems and also highlighs a number of the systems that have ceased over the years.

The 900mm gauge system at Vehnemoor is visited as well as the 600mm gauge system at Sedelsberg. The large network of 900mm gauge lines from Schöninghsdorf in the north, to Gross Heseper and Dalum in the south is also covered. We are grateful to Klasmann-Deilmann for allowing filming inside the yards and works complexes at these locations. The bulk of the film uses footage taken in 2016 with archive footage over 20 years old looking at earlier Klasmann works around Twist and Papenburg.

Skips, Horses and Hard Work: The Early years (58-mins)

Skips, Horses and Hard Work: The Early years (58-mins)

Ref: JS126D

In 2006, 2 small locomotives were purchased with the intention of building a short railway of under a half mile in length, to move horse manure from stables to a temporary muck heap for composting. Although having visited many industrial narrow gauge locations in the past, there was little or no experience of actual track building or loco restoration.

Following a number of interested enquiries regarding how the railway was built and asking for more details, this DVD has been made as the first of 2 DVDs about the Springfield Agricultural Railway. This first production looks at the construction of the railway and obtaining and restoring the first locos on the line, and running the first trains.

Via video footage and pictures over the first 3-4 years, the viewer can see how some of the obstacles were overcome, how the tracklaying was done, obtaining the locos, the locos bursting into life for the first time in many years, obtaining and building rolling stock, and various other activies.

Skips, Horses and Hard Work: Moving the Muck (68-mins)

Ref: JS132D

This is the second of 2 DVDs about the Springfield Agricultural Railway. This release captures the day to day operations of the railway, which is used for moving horse manure, timber, and performing general maintenance on fencing and the paddocks.

The video has been taken from 2009 to 2013 typically using one of the 2 working Moës locos or the Wingrove and Rogers battery loco. Other locos such as Alan Keef No.9 and a railcar converted from a Wickham Target Trolley are also seen breifly, with views of the Spoorijzer loco under restoration, and the arrival of Jane, the ex-Ffestiniog Motor Rail.

Steam in Serbia (73-mins)

Steam in Serbia (73-mins)

Ref: JS133D

During May 2001, all three of the preserved main line steam locos in Serbia were in action on several lines south of Belgrade, in Serbia. Footage of all three locos class 01, class 33, and class 51 is included on the video. Some industrial locations are also visited. The last steam worked passenger railway in Europe at the Jagodina Wire Factory is seen, along with the JZ Wagon Works at Smederevo. Both these locations are still worked by Class 62 0-6-0 tank locos. Collieries still using steam are seen at Vreoci and Kostolac with 900mm gauge railways.

The revived operation on the 760mm gauge railway at Mokra Gora is filmed with the first 8km of track laid by this stage. The last steam locomotive repair shop on the Yugoslav Railways is filmed, and the first steam test of another class 62 is followed after overhaul at the works. One or two other locations and locomotives are seen during the course of the video.
