This is the fourth and possibly most remarkable in the series of Class 37 programmes.

Material spans the years 1987 to 2000 and features many classic liveries including BR blue, large logo blue, red stripe railfreight as well as more up to date paint schemes.

Following on where Eclipse of the Class 37s left off we see astonishing action from Southern France where the Class 37s are assisting with construction duties connected with the new high-speed TGV Link.

This time we see them in action on the Southern steeply graded section where multiple type 3s tackle the infamous 1 in 30 gradient at Donzere.

Definitely a head banging session!

In the UK we see views from Cornwall to Caithness - literally, and view some of the most startling scenery in between.

Railtours, rare passenger turns, heavy freights; they are all here in what is likely to be another best seller.

Train details appear as captions and narrative has been deliberately omitted so that the truly distinctive sound of these locomotives is not compromised.

[Ian's Note: It isn't about the days of steam, it's about diesels on goods trains in the 1990s. HOWEVER it does show this era from Rail blue through to sectorisation. And as such is a record of those times!]

At its peak, the British railway network consisted of a massive 20,000 miles of track on which ran 23,000 locomotives pulling a total of 73,000 carriages and 1.4 million goods wagons. This huge transport network was managed and operated by 130 individual companies. Like the small capillaries at the end of the main arteries, Britain s Branch Lines were essential links to villages, small towns and many industrial sites such as collieries, factories and power stations. With the demise of heavy industry and development of cheap motor cars, many Branch Lines have closed. This DVD film is part of a nationwide tour of many of these lines, some long since closed, some still in limited operation. Lines featured in this box set include: Flixborough Leicester-Burton Bates Staithes Frodsham-Runcorn Hendon Jn Bishopbriggs Croxley Green Trawsfyndd Calverton Colliery Silverdale Colliery Methil Westfield Branch Killoch Colliery Tanhouse Burn Naze High Marnham Branch Silverwood Colliery Hays Chemicals St Helens Pontycymer Cheetham Hill Monk Bretton Wisbeach Anglesea Sidings Birch Coppice Haydock Glazebrook Northampton Bridge Street Hays Chemicals Sandbach Grain Thameshaven Chalmerston Fawley Ebbw Branch Hamworthy Bentinck Colliery Shelton Steel Works Manchester Airport Sizewell Power Station Branch Nuneaton Avoiding Line Lavant Branch Greaves Sidings Birkenhead Rugby Redland Baddesley Colliery Branch Meldon Quarry Stirling Sidings Hull Analby Curve Waterloo Branch Dee Marsh Branch Coventry Colliery Kings Lynn Docks Branch Bloxwich Branch Middlewich Eastgate Redmire Swannington Ravenscraig Maxwelltown Grangemouth Engine Shed Asfordby Newton-Le-Willows Colliery Frodsham Rossington & Frickley Colliery Padiham Power Station Bescot-Stourbridge Dover Western Docks Machen Quarry Castle Gresley Newton Longville Vic Berrys Scrapyard Long Marston Denton Corby Liverpool Alexander Docks Ribble Branch Deepdale Grassington Tondu Westerleigh Cadoxton Fifoots Power Station Huntly Ludgershall Morningside Ford, Bridgend Barry Docks Aberthaw Prologis Park Logistic Park (Coventry) Ebbw Victoria Sidings Cross Keys Cwm Heathfiled Tyherington Hendy Curve, Swansea Kingsbury Folly Lane Clipstone Colliery Southminster Power Station - Denby

It's been many years since the last Class 52 "Western" locomotives ran on British Raiulways and yet the fascination of this unique class of diesel hydraulics lingers on.

Here we feature a pictorial history of the class looking back to it's heyday and featuring wonderful scenes from the early hydraulic years and includes the whole range of ‘Western’ liveries as the D1000s share space with other diesel-hydraulic types.

The film also includes interviews with ex-BR staff involved in the introduction of the ‘Westerns’ and with acknowledged expert Adrian Curtis. This gives us a fascinating insight into the thoughts and motives behind the ‘Western’ project and even the choice of names for the locomotives.

A total of 30 years have gone by since the famous ‘Western’ diesel class were in service with British Rail, and in this programme we commemorate this with a very special programme looking at their final four years in railway traffic.

Focusing on the years 1974 – 1977, you can take special note of the 50 different locomotives featured and get the chance to see most of your favourites in action once more.

The programme also features many of the special trains operating in that period with D1010, D1013, D1023, D1051, D1052 all appearing on railtour duties

Other highlights of this engaging DVD include a special treat of a wonderful Double Header over Dainton; The summers of 1974 & 1975 at Dawlish; Reading platform scenes; and a unique ride behind Western Ambassador!

This is certainly guaranteed to bring back glorious memories from that wonderful era

This film is like no other Western video. It includes rare footage captured primarily in Devon and Cornwall by just a few enthusiasts chasing their favourite type of locomotive before time ran out in February 1977. This film carries almost entirely original soundtrack and features more than half of the class of Western locomotives.

Because of this we see it exactly as it was in those days. The programme contains captions and brief commentary but careful production ensures that the Westerns do the talking! As a result this video features a symphony of diesel hydraulic thrash!

As the title suggests, this is no ordinary video for after 25 years we can witness a Western once more where it belongs, with views of the return to the main line in 2002 of "Western Champion".

Included are not only impressive lineside shots but also views from right behind the engine. Travel with us into Cornwall with "Western Glory", over the Devon Banks with "Western Duke" and "Western Trooper", and onto the Paignton branch with "Western Pathfinder"
