This Volume explores the North Western area of the former Midland Region, from Lancashire to the Cumbrian Hills and Coast. It also includes archive film from the 1960s and 70s.

The Programme Comprises:

Lancashire and some survivors on the lines through Burscough Junction and Parbold - Blackpool and the semaphores and boxes on the line to Preston - The West Coast Main Line past and present from Carnforth to Carlisle including Grayrigg, Tebay, Scout Green, Penrith and Carlisle in the 1960s plus Hest Bank, Carnforth and Carlisle in the present day. The Cumbrian Coast from Carnforth to Carlisle with all the signalboxes including Arnside, Ulverston, Workington, Drigg, Barrow in Furness , Wigton & Sellafield. The Settle and Carlisle with Hellifield, Settle Junction, Blea Moor, Garsdale, Kirkby Stephen, Appleby, Culgaith and Howe & Co signal boxes featuring some rare signalling survivors. Plus archive film of many closed boxes including Dent, Kirkby Stephen, Horton and Ais Gill boxes in the 1960s. We also visit Settle Box and feature its workings.
