On Tuesday 6th August 2002 Jon Marsh joined driver Paul Ingham and fireman Chris in the cab of “Prince” for a journey along the Welsh Highland Railway (Caernarfon). We took two round trips on the line to Waunfawr. This video is a collection of clips from both journeys. It gives views of the line not normally seen by the traveller and provides an interesting alternative to the view from the carriage window.

Some of the last remaining narrow gauge industrial lines using steam traction in the 1960s are seen in action at Dinorwic, BICC Callenders Cables and Bowaters with later diesel traction seen at a brickworks.


Early preservation on the Ffestiniog, Talyllyn and Welshpool & Llanfair Railways are seen in the 1960s plus Llanberis Lake, Launceston Steam, Leighton Buzzard and other lines during the 1970s and 1980s.
